Transforming Our Lives through Immersive Technology

Now the world is surrounded by technology and electronic devices and that getting evolved day by day. Nowadays we are shifting towards the digital life where everything is connected. Recent advancement in information technology like Artificial Intelligence, high-speed data transfer, high speed computing power, and high resolution display devices, creates new experience for users in Immersive Technology.

Immersive Technologies are a fast growing field of modern technology. Purpose of Immersive Technology is merging of virtual content with physical environment with special technologies like VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), MR (Mixed Reality) and XR (Extended Reality).

Virtual Reality (VR) is simulates a computer generated 3D environment that settings a user and responds to a person’s actions in a natural way and it feels very realistic. It has become gradually popular in recent days in many fields such as gaming, healthcare, entertainment and more. This is possible by putting on a head mounted display that sends a form of input signals. The display is split between eyes and that creates a stereoscopic 3D effect with stereo sound effect. That will give you a 3D graphic experience.

Augmented Reality (AR) is a technique by which we can modify our real world by adding some digital components to it. Augment means to make something great by adding something to it. This is a head mounted display free technique, where digitalized images are added to the real world around the person’s current view. For example people shopping for furniture can virtually place it in a virtual model of their house and are able to get a good view of how it fits.

Mixed reality (MR) is a type of hybrid system that contains both physical and virtual elements. It uses both VR and AR technologies into the real world. It removes the boundaries between real and virtual world. It uses physical and virtual objects together in real time. In other words Mixed Reality works by scanning our real world and creating a map of our surrounding. Microsoft’s HoloLens is an example of Mixed Reality. With the help of HoloLens a surgeon using a headset to view scans while surgery.

Extended Reality (XR) is an umbrella term that uses all of the above realities together under one term. It gives the way people feel the physical and also the virtual environments. For example, imagine being able to make an avatar that look like you with the capability to recreate physical actions like interacting with people all from the comfort of your home. Over the past year, the Extended Reality (XR) industry has made substantial advances in hardware, software, contents and applications.

As technology improvements, people can learn, transform, experience and build new worlds of businesses, relationships and talents.
